Niseko Named the World’s Best Destination for Seasonal Workers

Niseko has ranked first in a new study of the world’s best destinations for seasonal work.

The Remitly study compared 88 destinations across safety, living costs, rent affordability, activities and seasonal job demand. Niseko scored 79 out of 100, placing ahead of Cortina d’Ampezzo, Queenstown and St Anton.

Could this improve service in Niseko?

Potentially—but attracting workers is only the first step.

A larger international applicant pool could help Niseko’s hotels, restaurants and property operators recruit more experienced and multilingual staff. Greater competition for the best seasonal positions may also allow employers to hire more selectively.

However, strong service still depends on proper training, experienced management, competitive pay and suitable staff accommodation. Niseko’s growing luxury market needs hospitality standards that match its rising prices.

The ranking is encouraging: Niseko is no longer simply attracting international guests and investors. It is becoming one of the world’s most desirable places to work a winter season.

The opportunity now is to convert that popularity into more consistent, professional service across the resort.
