Air Canada’s Direct Vancouver–Sapporo Flight Opens Niseko to North America

Air Canada is making Niseko considerably easier to reach from Canada—and from across North America.

Beginning 17 December 2026, the airline will operate its first winter service between Vancouver and Sapporo’s New Chitose Airport. The seasonal route eliminates the need to connect through Tokyo and is expected to save travellers more than two hours each way.

Air Canada’s Vancouver–Sapporo schedule

  • Aircraft: Boeing 787 Dreamliner

  • Frequency: Three flights per week

  • Cabins: Signature Class, Premium Economy and Economy

Vancouver to Sapporo — AC55

What could this mean for Niseko property?

Vancouver is an important gateway for Canadian and American travellers, with Air Canada offering connections to more than 45 destinations across Canada, the United States and Mexico.

The new route will not create property demand by itself. However, easier access could encourage more first-time visits, repeat stays and enquiries from North American buyers—particularly those already familiar with premium ski property in British Columbia and the western United States.

Combined with United’s new San Francisco service, Niseko is becoming substantially more accessible to North American capital.
